FAQs

Where should we fly in?

The closest airport is T.F. Green Airport in Providence, Rhode Island (about a 30-minute drive to Newport). Boston Logan International Airport is another great option, about 1.5 hours away.

Where should we stay?

We recommend first looking at Newport Harbor Island Resort, where we’ve reserved a room block for our guests. See details here. Booking within the block offers a discounted rate, and transportation will be provided to and from the wedding.

There are also many great hotels, Airbnbs, and VRBOs throughout Newport if you prefer something different. We will be providing transportation to and from the wedding for guests staying in Newport.

If you choose to stay in nearby towns like Middletown or Bristol, we can’t wait to celebrate with you, just note that transportation will not be provided from those locations.

What is the dress code?

Thursday, Oct 1st Welcome Drinks: Coastal Cocktail Attire

Friday, Oct 2nd Wedding: Black Tie Optional

May we bring our kids?

As much as we love your children, we request you leave your kids at home. Obviously, we are at a time in our lives where this may not be possible for those with infants, so we’d be happy to have them join.

Will there be transportation provided?

We encourage guests to stay in Newport to experience the charm, restaurants, and coastal beauty of the area. On the wedding day, transportation will be provided to and from our venue. First pickup will be at The Newport Harbor Island Resort where we have the room block and a second stop will be in downtown Newport. Additional details will be shared closer to the date.

What last name will you be taking?

We are excited to be changing our last name to Hammett. After consideration, we have decided to take Andrew’s mother’s family name as our own once we are married. We look forward to starting this new chapter as a family unit and becoming the Hammetts.

Why Rhode Island?

We do realize Rhode Island is a destination for 99.75% of you (us too!). Lindsay grew up having very fond memories in Rhode Island and Andrew has grown to love everything about it. We felt that it would be a beautiful place to host all of our favorite people. Additionally, we wanted a place we can travel back to on anniversaries that felt special on the East Coast. We know you all will enjoy it as much as we do and hope you have the best time!
